Children’s Eye Tests in Chatswood

Vision assessment for children and school-age students at Grand Optics.

Why children’s vision checks matter

Clear, comfortable vision supports reading, classroom learning, sport and everyday activities. Children do not always recognise or report a vision problem, so an eye examination can be useful when parents or teachers notice changes.

What can be assessed?

A children’s eye test may assess visual clarity, short-sightedness (myopia), long-sightedness (hyperopia), astigmatism, focusing, eye coordination and other aspects of vision according to the child’s age and needs.

Signs worth checking

Consider arranging an eye examination if your child has difficulty seeing the board, sits very close to screens, squints, reports headaches or eye strain, avoids reading, or if you simply want to check their vision.

Myopia

Myopia causes distant objects to appear blurred and commonly develops during childhood. Regular eye examinations can help identify and monitor prescription changes. Your optometrist can discuss appropriate options based on the child’s individual findings.
